The earth moves on its orbit. The season changes here due to the annual motion of the earth. Bangladesh is called the playground of the nature. Here the mature changes alternatively after every two months. Such a change is called a season. There are six seasons in Bangladesh. They are summer, rains, autumn, late autumn, winter and spring.

Name of six seasons:

  1. Summer
  2. Rains
  3. Autumn
  4. Late autumn
  5. Winter
  6. Spring
Description of the seasons:

Summer:

‘Baishakh’ and ‘Jaistha’ are the summer moths. This is the first season of our country. It is very hot in this season. Tanks, ponds, streams dry up. Many kinds of sweet fruits are found during this season. Mangoes, jackfruits, black berries, melons etc. are main of them.

Rains:

‘Ashar’ and ‘Sravan’ are the months of rain. It is the second season. It rains heavily then. Roads become muddy. Tanks, ponds, rivers are full to the brim. Sometimes floods occur and people suffer. The main two crops of Bangladesh, rice and jute, grow in this season.

Autumn:

‘Bhadra’ and ‘Aswin’ are the months of autumn. The sky looks deep blue and flowers bloom in this season. Days and nights are almost equal. There are festivals in every house in Bangladesh during this time.

Late autumn:

‘Kartic’ and ‘Agrahayan’ are the months of late autumn. Dew-drops begin to fall. Paddy ripens and is cut down in this season.

Winter:

‘Poush’ and ‘Magh’ are the months of winter. It is very cold then and days are shorter and nights are longer. Vegetables of various kinds are available in plenty in this season. Nature looks dull and gloomy.

Spring:

‘Falgoon’ and ‘Chaitra’ make this season. It is the season of flowers. It is called the king of seasons. There is joy in mature every where, it gives new life everywhere in nature. Birds sing cheerfully. The sun shins brightly.
